Ammonium chloride is an inorganic compound composed of ammonium cations (NH4+) and chloride anions (Cl-). The ammonium chloride formula is NH4Cl. Ammonium chloride is a white crystalline powder at room temperature with a salty taste. Ammonium chloride density is about 1.5 g/cm3, and it will be decomposed by heating to release ammonia gas. It has high solubility and is easily dissolved to form a transparent, colorless solution. Ammonium chloride in water forms an acidic solution with a pH of approximately 5.
